Who is Alice's Malices?

Alice's Malices is a puppet and performance troupe consisting of Alice and her gaggle of queerdo friends and puppet creations. Alice and said Malices all rally together to create live-projected puppet shows and fever-dream performances injected with lesbian psychosis, demonic encounters, terrifying city phenomena and situationalist commercial insanity--all set to original music and foley. They perform in theaters, festivals, puppet slams, backyards, and especially their favorite dive bars, and aim to enter your psyche through live-performed cartoon projections using vintage and overhead projectors, shadow puppetry, half-broken CRTVS, miniature hand-painted toy theatre sets, and hand-sculpted clay marionettes. 

Some common Malices you may encounter in an average show include puppet camera manipulator Grace Klages and the nimble-fingered puppet furniture carpenter Jailbreak Jake, along with guitar-picker Joni Poptart and hyperpop artist 6mmjade. The world of the Malices is also inhabited by the drug-addled marionettes Suzy Cream Cheese and Shelley Du'Belly, alongside the infamous Green Bean Can Man (a stick man made from a V8 can plagued with lonenliness and a drinking habit).  

ABOUT THE PUPPETEERS

Alice Irvin is a puppeteer and performance artist originally from New Mexico. She had been performing and making crayon art her whole life before being trained at Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in California. She has combined her self-taught messy cartoon art and performance training into original puppetry and physical theatre nonsense, performing over 20-odd original pieces in festivals, back-room dive bars, and theatres throughout the Pacific Northwest over the course of the last 6 years. When she isn't grinding away at her dayjob pouring coffee for tourists in Pike Place Market, she's obsessively creating shadow puppet and toy theatre "analogue cartoons" for DIY punk shows and commissioned pieces alike. Alice is obsessed with the cognitive dissonance and dissociation of Americans like herself, and she loves humanizing fast food mascots.
